The liminal

What exactly is the liminal learning space?

Recently I've been quite curious on this particular learning space and decided to do some research of my own to clarify my thoughts.

First of all, the liminal learning space is the place of transition, waiting, and not knowing our "next". The liminal learning space can be exhilarating however, may also be unsettling as it may require an uncomfortable shift in identity, or bring on a sense of loss.

The liminal learning space is almost like you are Alice from Alice in Wonderland. Decisions you make may have many different end results, often we are unaware of what that end result may be. The classroom is a liminal space as we never know what responses our students are going to give and, where the learning may lead them.

Learning is a transformational process within the liminal space.
